...Says, "Hello, my brothers."SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina (AP) - A Roman Catholic nun was stabbedto death in a Muslim-dominated town, officials said today. A spokesman forthe main Bosnian Croat party said he hoped the killing was not an attemptto pressure Croats to leave.
The nun, a Croat, was killed late Monday in Kakanj, 21 miles northwest ofSarajevo, said Adnan Kosovac, spokesman for the federal police. She wasidentified as Ane Jurjevic, 46.
Police had no suspects or motives for the attack.
Most Catholics in Bosnia are Croats. Officials of Sarajevo's Roman Catholicdiocese were not immediately available for comment.
Srecko Vucina, general secretary of the dominant Bosnian Croat party, saidthe nun was stabbed to death.
``We heard the news with horror,'' Vucina said. ``We do not want to believethat this was ... pressure for further eviction of Croats from there.''
Animosity persists between Muslims and Croats, who fought for a year overterritories in central and southern Bosnia. Tens of thousands were evictedfrom their homes by both sides.
They stopped fighting in March 1994 and became nominal allies in a U.S.-sponsoredfederation intended to counterbalance the Bosnian Serbs. Hard-liners onboth sides continue following their nationalist interests and obstructingattempts to solidify the federation.
